Hu-Friedy recently launched EverEdge 2.0 hand scaling instruments, which were designed using a proprietary heat treatment process and enhanced finishing techniques.
The instruments feature optimized steel for enhanced edge retention and edge characteristics that will last the entire life of the instrument, according to a press release. The scalers can be re-sharpened at any time to extend their life and value.
A recent sharpness test conducted by CATRA, an independent lab that specializes in blade technology, found EverEdge 2.0 scalers are 72 percent sharper out of the box than the next closest competitor, and after 500 strokes they remained 50 percent sharper than the next closest competitor.
Sharp scalers allow for effective removal of deposits during prophylaxis procedures. They’re also comfortable for both clinicians and patients and improve efficiencies because less time is needed to scale.
EverEdge 2.0 instruments are available in the original EverEdge diamond-knurled, large-diameter handle as well as the Resin 8 Colors handle. This lightweight resin handle features a color-coded system that makes it easy to identify scalers and curettes that correspond to certain areas of the mouth. A new purple grip makes the EverEdge 2.0 scalers easy to identify.
