New Dental Product: Gracey Curette Designs from Hu-Friedy

Hu-Friedy recently introduced Gracey Curette Designs, which are part of the EverEdge 2.0 product line.

The double-sided, area-specific instruments are well suited for removing deposits from root surfaces, according to press release.

Hu-Friedy originally introduced the designs in 1945 in partnership with Dr. Clayton Gracey, who wanted to develop an instrument line that allowed dentists to effectively treat even the deepest periodontal pockets. Combining the Gracey Curettes with the optimized steel of the EverEdge 2.0 instruments is said to help clinicians achieve optimal results.

EverEdge instruments, released earlier this year, feature optimal edge retention and wear characteristics that will last the lifetime of the instrument.

The Gracey curette blade design features one lower cutting edge, allowing adaptation to a specific tooth surface. The blade is offset from the shank at 70° to the side, with the shank design making it possible to use the blade on a specific group of teeth. The curette is correctly adapted when the lower cutting edge is against the tooth and the terminal shank is parallel to the tooth surface being scaled.
