The next generation digital impression system from Align Technology, the iTero Element Intraoral Scanner is making its debut during the 2015 International Dental Show.
Featuring enhanced imaging technology for 20 times faster digital impression scanning, the iTero Element is built with a 40 percent smaller and lighter wand and a reduced system footprint, according to a press release. The wand features built in scanning controls and a new ITO deffoging system that defogs the wand tip in an instant. The new system also features color scanning to help clinicians distinguish between gingival and dental tissues.
The new smaller iTero Element cart includes a 19-inch, high-definition, multi-touch display and an integrated gyro system for easy rotation of digital models on the screen. The scans are compatible with existing iTero orthodontic and restorative workflows, model milling and custom abutments. They also can be sent to partner laboratories, exported as open STL files or sent to a chairside mill. The system also includes the Invisalign Outcome Simulator that helps clinicians show patients what their smile may look like after Invisalign clear aligner treatment.
The iTero Element Scanner is expected to be available in the second half of 2015.
