Denture Materials
If you offer removable prosthetics in your practice, you know how important accurate impressions and measurements are to delivering esthetic, comfortable fitting dentures that improve your patients’ quality of life. And while providing a quality denture initially is key, it’s also important to be able make adjustments as needed. Over time, patients might notice their dentures just don’t fit as well as they used to, and will come to you for help. You can often handle these repairs chairside if you have the right denture materials on hand. Soft reline materials can be applied quickly to temporarily provide a better fit, while hard reline materials are designed for more long-term repairs.
What Types of Denture Materials Are Available for My Practice?
There are a variety of denture materials to choose from to make repairs in your office or in the dental lab. They include:
Chairside Hard Reline Material
Denture Soft Reline Material
Dental Articulation Materials
What Should I Consider When Selecting Denture Materials?
Be prepared to make adjustments to dentures in your office—even dentures you didn’t deliver. Look for hard and soft reline materials that are easy to use and that don’t take on odors, stains or tastes. They also should be long-lasting and produce minimal heat to avoid burning the patient. Hard reline materials are designed for long-term repairs, but some of the new soft reline materials also can last several years.
