Carbon introduced its new Carbon Gen 2 aligner module solution at the International Dental Show in Cologne.
The solution can lead to decreased cost per part, increased throughput and improved sustainability, according to a press release. It includes new proprietary software and high-performance resin that integrates with Carbon’s existing printer hardware and clear aligner model workflow. The solution will offer new and existing customers integration with that workflow, which is used by leading aligner manufacturers.
The workflow consists of the Carbon L1 printer, the solventless spin cleaning solution as well as API-based software that automates the hollowing, nesting and batching of models to be printed. The improved solvent-free model cleaning eliminates solvent waste and allows resin to be reclaimed for future use.
Leveraging software engineered in parallel with Carbon’s new UMA 20 resin, the solution automatically hollows models, an approach that creates a cost effective and sustainable solution for clear aligner manufacturers. The solution also can reduce material consumption by up to 40% per model while increasing throughput up to 65% with the Carbon L1 printer.
The Carbon Gen 2 aligner model solution will be available in the second half of the year.
