Admetec Plans to Launch Integrated HD Camera and Headlight for Dental Loupes at IDS Germany

Admetec recently announced plans to launch its integrated HD camera and headlight for dental loupes at IDS Germany, which is slated for March 14 to 18 in Cologne.

Described as the first of its kind, the Flamingo is a lightweight tool that combines modern technology and ergonomic positioning without extra weight or wires, according to a press release.

The battery-powered combined HD camera and headlight system allows simple, real-time recording that can be used to include instructions for colleagues or classes, for explanations to patients and patient files, and for promotional purposes. The company’s propriety software makes it possible to stream HD video via Wi-Fi to laptops and other screens. Screenshots can be taken and autosaved for real-time documentation. Automatic software updates eliminate the need to download and install newer versions.

Because the instrument is designed to be worn for long periods of time, the company focused on making it as lightweight as possible. This meant eliminating unnecessary features like autofocus that add weight.

Because the Flamingo’s headlight is integrated with its camera, the light beam remains focused on what the user is filming. This wearable setup also prevents users from obstructing their own light, as often happens with traditional operatory lighting.

The Flamingo’s camera and light connect to a PowerPack, the company’s dual battery and control panel system, through a single lightweight cable. For added comfort and easy accessibility, the PowerPack can clip to a user’s belt or sit in a pocket. A personalized, protective case makes travel convenient.
