3Shape recently introduced the new TRIOS 5 Wireless intraoral scanner, the latest version of the popular system.
The enhanced intraoral scanner features more than 50 improvements in ease of use and design, including ScanAssist intelligent alignment technology and a redesigned, compact and hygienically optimized scanner, according to a press release.
To make scanning simple, an LED ring and haptic sensor feedback guide users as they take impressions. ScanAssist technology minimizes misalignment and distortion in 3D models, allowing users to scan patients in any direction they want using their preferred scan path.
The scanner, which is the company’s smallest and most lightweight, features an FDA cleared, closed autoclavable scanner tip protected by scratch-free sapphire glass for enhanced hygiene. Ultra-thin, snug and near-invisible single-use sleeves cover the scanner body to minimize the risk of cross contamination. It is hygienically sealed up to its battery inlet with no cracks or crevices that can accumulate soil or contaminants, making it easy to clean.
The system is also ergonomic. The sleek, pen-grip scanner is balanced to fit comfortably in any hand. It weighs 10.6 ounces (with battery) and is 10.5 inches long.
TRIOS Share allows users to scan from every PC in the practice. Smart Power Management, which automatically switches TRIOS 5 to sleep-mode to save energy when it’s not being used, allows for all-day battery life. Users get up to 66 minutes of scan time per battery.
The system creates precise 3D models without a calibration tool, meaning users don’t need to calibrate the scanner every 14 days. The two-button design allows for improved software navigation and scan analysis.
Like all 3Shape TRIOS scanners, TRIOS 5 Wireless includes the 3Shape Unite platform at no additional charge, connecting users to more than 2,000 dental companies, treatment solutions, practice management systems, and labs via apps on the open and collaborative platform. Doctors can also take advantage of 3Shape engagement apps, included free with TRIOS 5 Wireless, to help boost case acceptance.
TRIOS 5 Wireless owners can choose from two TRIOS service agreement options: TRIOS Care, which delivers focused onboarding, extensive training, and unlimited support for practitioners, including express replacement if the scanner is damaged, and TRIOS Only, a scan-ready free service agreement with no monthly costs.
