Planmeca Introduces the Planmeca Romexis® CAD/CAM Module

Planmeca recently introduced the Planmeca Romexis® CAD/CAM Module to streamline the scan-and-send workflow for capturing, analyzing and exporting digital impressions.

The module is designed to make it easier to capture and work with digital impressions, according to a press release. It’s part of the Planmeca Romexis® all-in-one software, which provides dental practices with access to clinical patient data in one system.

Through the module, intraoral scans can easily be captured and sent to external partners for restoration design and manufacturing. Users can start scanning and decide later what they want to do with the impressions. The new module also makes it possible to work with more complex cases such as scanning multiple bites and other scan types for a case within a single scanning session.

Once scanning is complete, users can mark the margin lines with intuitive tools, analyze and measure the impressions, add bases to create 3D printable dental models, or send the scans to a dental laboratory or a third party CAD software.

Soon, the module will also include a tool for simulating orthodontic treatments.

The new CAD/CAM module is currently only available for scanning. The entire restorative workflow from scanning to design and manufacturing can be carried out using Planmeca PlanCAD® Easysoftware.
