Overjet Receives U.S. Patent for AI Technology

Overjet recently received a U.S. patient for its AI technology, which accurately measures anatomical structures and quantifies disease on dental x-rays.

The technology eliminates the need for foreign calibration objects when measuring distances in dental x-rays, according to a press release. Using deep learning, Overjet's software can identify anatomical features such as individual teeth, restorations, implants, CEJ, bone levels and other physical attributes. This allows dental professionals to make accurate calibrated measurements and determine pixel-to-millimeter ratio of an image.

The patented technology helped Overjet receive FDA clearance for Overjet Dental Assist™. It also gives Overjet the exclusive ability to offer this technology to its customers.

Overjet's invention allows automated measurements, enabling many applications, which include identification of implant type and determination of implant angulation; determination of distortion due to angulations of dental x-rays; measuring root canal length during endodontic procedures and bone level measurements for periodontal procedures; and insurance medical necessity verification based on quantitative review guidelines.
