Ho Dental recently introduced the AiroPur dental aerosol suction cup to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
The disposable device is designed to control aerosols during dental procedures, especially ultrasonic scaling and coronal polishing, according to a post on the company website.
The suction cup can be inserted onto the end of High-Volume Evacuation (HVE) hoses. The patient holds the top of the device even with his or her lower lip while the HVE is in use, pulling aerosols from the mouth and the air surrounding the patient’s face.
The simple, inexpensive device is said to eliminate the need for bulky or expensive new equipment, saving money as well as space in the operatory.
The device can be autoclaved for reuse, but at less than $1 each, it is inexpensive enough to be disposable. It is available in 40-count packages.
