Zahn Dental recently released Zirlux Transitions zirconia.
The strong zirconia uses transitional layered technology to mimic natural esthetics, according to the Zirlux website. Its Smart Incisal Technology incorporates a blueish grey effect on the top third zone of the disc to reduce the white value. It also mimics the natural tooth’s blueish gray translucency.
The patented technology leads to a higher chroma in the cervical area, which decreases chroma toward the incisal. This creates what the company describes as the “perfect balance between strength and translucency for anterior and posterior restorations.”
The zirconia has 1200 MPa and 48 percent translucency. It is available in 16 classic VITA shades and OM2 bleach shade. It is compatible with most dental mills. Indications include full-contour anterior and posterior crowns, bridges, inlays and onlays, single tooth and bridge frameworks in the anterior and posterior, up to 14 units.
