MouthWatch Appoints TeleDent COVID-19 Advisory Board

MouthWatch recently formed a TeleDent COVID-19 Advisory Board. Members will help develop protocols for implementing teledentistry during the coronavirus pandemic as well as creating teledentistry-focused education and training materials.

The goal is to educate dental professionals on how to use teledentistry now and to set them up to continue to use this service even after the coronavirus crisis is behind us, according to a press release. The board will provide education on a variety of topics including establishing oral triage protocols; implementing proper coding; coordinating dental team participation; developing virtual workflows; conducting live consultations; and explaining legal and regulatory parameters.

Advisory board members include:

Dr. Margaret Scarlett, an infectious and chronic disease prevention specialist, dentist and author; Dr. Paul Glassman, founder of the Virtual Dental Home Program; Dr. Scott Howell, Assistant Professor and Director of Teledentistry at A.T. Still University, Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health; Dr. Scott H. Froum, a Board-certified periodontist and clinical associate professor at SUNY Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine in the Department of Periodontics; Patti DiGangi, RDH, who specializes in medically necessary coding; and Michelle Strange, MSDH, RDH, a practicing hygienist, speaker, writer, content developer, consultant, and podcast co-host for A Tale of Two Hygienists.

The dental community will soon have access to information about how to use teledentistry during the coronavirus pandemic through white papers, blogs, webinars, e-books and articles developed in close collaboration with the advisory board.
