New Dental Products: Orthophos E, Orthophos S and Orthophos SL Digital Imaging Systems from Dentsply Sirona

New Dental Products: Orthophos E, Orthophos S and Orthophos SL Digital Imaging Systems from Dentsply Sirona

Dentsply Sirona recently launched three new imaging units: The Orthophos E, Orthophos S and Orthophos SL Digital.

Each imaging unit provides a different range of features that allow practitioners to image, diagnose and treat for higher case acceptance, according to a press release, as well as to expand treatment services into implantology, endodontics, obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) therapy, and orthodontics.

All three of the Orthophos units work seamlessly with the company’s Sidexis 4 imaging software. They also provide high-quality images at a low dose and optimal user comfort.

Orthophos E offers a smooth transition into digital extraoral imaging. With its panoramic, pediatric panoramic, bitewing and other exposure programs, it comes equipped with all the basic programs for the 2D diagnostic process. Its MultiPad enables users to select the program close to the patient. A motorized forehead and temple support stabilize the patient while the integrated temple width measurement makes it possible to automatically select the appropriate orbital curve.

Orthophos S can be used as a 2D solution as well as a combined 2D/3D device. Its cephalometric arm makes it well suited for orthodontic practices. Orthophos S achieves reliable contrast in panoramic images with its autofocus function, while the patented auto-positioner supports automatic patient positioning. The unit offers suitable volumes and modes for a variety of clinical indications, such as a focused high-resolution volume or a volume that displays three-dimensional information over the complete dentition with the dosage range of a 2D image. Various software packages are available to expand practice procedures, like implant, endo, sleep, and upper airway management.

Orthophos SL is the most comprehensive of the three solutions and features Direct Conversion Sensor (DCS) and Sharp Layer (SL) technology, allowing it to cater to users with the highest requirements for panoramic and 3D imaging.

The patented auto-positioner helps automatically position the patient, enabling reproducible and optimally positioned panoramic images. Depending on the clinical situation, extensive 2D programs and a range of volume sizes (Ø5cm x 5cm to Ø11cm x 10cm) in high definition (HD), standard definition (SD), and low-dose mode are available. MARS (Metal Artifact Reduction Software) reduces artifacts for the best possible image interpretation by automatically detecting metals in each volume. Users can choose from 30 ambient light colors that provide background illumination.

The new line of Orthophos Systems facilitates entry into digital imaging as well as extensive use in offices that practice various disciplines, allowing the company to meet specific needs and give more dentists access to digital imaging technology.
