Designed to allow clinicians and patients to easily see inside the patient's mouth during exams and treatments, the SMARTmirror is a WiFi-enabled dental mirror equipped with a tiny imaging sensor and LED lights.
The sapphire mirror is designed to be similar in size and weight to a standard dental mirror, it features a wafer-level camera module from OmniVision, according to a press release. The mirror provides 12X magnification and is scratch and fog resistant. Intraoral illumination is provided by 36 LEDs with adjustable intensity.
The integrated camera module captures 400 x 400 resolution video at 30 frames per second for a 120-degree field of view with a fixed focus from 3 mm to infinity. Even with the camera, the mirror is just 4 mm thick. The captured videos are sent via WiFi to an included iPad where they can be viewed on screen making it easy for clinicians and patients to have a unique view of clinical care.
