The iTero Element family of intraoral scanners, including the iTero Element, Element 2 and Element Flex, from Align Technology now feature new software upgrades as well as enhanced functionality and connectivity to exocad and Dentrix.
The 1.7 software upgrade is available through a gradual release starting in late November, according to a press release. General dentists and orthodontists now have access to new features designed to improve scan quality and provide more functionality for patient data protection. The features include improved image quality and resolution of restorative model; direct visualization of high resolution scan in scan mode; improved scan process for prep segments; and an inactivity log out feature that activates after a pre-defined period of system inactivity for better data protection.
A second iTero software update improves the customer experience on the website, offering clinicians clear visibility to file download status.
The iTero Element scanners also feature an open chairside milling workflow with exocad ChairsideCAD software. This provides a fully-validated workflow between iTero Element and exocad ChairsideCAD to enable in-house milling of dental restoration on any compatible milling machine.
The scanner is now also integrated with the Dentrix patient management platform. This integration simplifies workflow and increases efficiency by eliminating the need to re-enter patient data for digital impressions taken using iTero scanners. Scans are now automatically inserted into the Dentrix patient chart. This connectivity is available only in North America.
