New Dental Product: DWX-42W Wet Dental Mill from Roland DGA

Roland DGA recently launched its latest wet dental mill, the DWX-42W.

It is the successor to the DWX-4W wet mill and is designed for both dedicated labs and in-clinic labs, according to a press release. The system provides on-demand milling of glass ceramics and composite resin materials, producing crowns, small bridges, inlays, onlays, veneers, and other prosthetics.

The DWX-42W is a standalone wet-milling solution for labs that makes quick, cost-effective, esthetic CAD/CAM restorations possible. When used by in-clinic labs, the system enables dental offices and practices to provide same-day restorations for patients.

The mill features increased Automatic Tool Changer (ATC) capacity with six stations, ethernet connectivity, newly designed nozzles and coolant tank, and new grinding burs. It also has a newly engineered DGSHAPE spindle that is patent pending. Other upgrades include reduced air pressure and volume requirements (which eliminates the need for an additional compressor), up to 50 percent faster milling times, and the ability to connect to the device over a network.

The open architecture design enables clinics and labs to use software and scanners they’re already familiar with. The DWX-42W’s six-station ATC switches out grinding burs as needed for unattended production. The mill also comes with a Virtual Machine Panel (VPanel) that lets users quickly configure settings for up to four machines from one computer. VPanel also monitors operational status, sends email notifications when milling has been completed, and allows for automatic maintenance procedures like calibrations and spindle run-ins.
