New Dental Products: Digital Denture and IPS e.max ZirCAD from Ivoclar Vivadent

Ivoclar Vivadent recently released two new CAD/CAM materials: Digital Denture and IPS e.max ZirCAD.

Digital Denture is a manufacturing process for the rapid digital production of removable dentures milled from two discs, according to a press release. The process integrates the treatment steps in the dental practice with the digital manufacturing processes in the lab. Design software and coordinated materials combined with effective manufacturing strategies and the PrograMill milling platform lead to predictable results.

SR Vivodent CAD is a material designed for the digital production of teeth and tooth segments. Individual teeth and dental arches can be milled from the DSL discs. The material features a translucent shading and natural fluorescence. It also features low opacity, an anatomical shape and natural surface design. The discs are available in a variety of shades.

IvoBase CAD is a denture base PMMA material that is known for its fracture resistance, durability and homogeneous quality. The discs come in four basic shades. The shade concept is matched to the company’s denture base materials and covers the most popular shades.

Digital Denture offers shorter manufacturing times, fewer manual working steps and fewer interruptions in the workflow than conventional procedures. There’s also no need to create and articulate stone casts. Digital Denture can be used for complete dentures (upper and lower jaw), single-arch complete dentures (upper or lower jaw), duplicate complete dentures and immediate complete dentures.

The dentures are fracture resistant and easy to clean as they are free of interdental gaps. A basic and upgraded version is available. The premium version, Digital Denture Professional, allows users to create dentures with high-quality attributes, by using prefabricated artificial teeth for example.

Ivoclar Vivadent also recently extended the IPS e.max product line to include IPS e.max ZirCAD with new zirconium oxide discs and blocks for fabricating natural looking restorations with optimized properties, according to a press release. The material allows the fabrication of restorations that have clearly reduced wall thickness, enabling a tooth-conserving preparation design. Applications range from monolithic and veneered crowns and bridges to implant-supported superstructures.

IPS e.max ZirCAD MT Multi is the centerpiece of the system. It is based on a specially designed powder formulation and shading technology. IPS e.max ZirCAD MT results in restorations that demonstrate a natural progression of shade and translucency from the dentin to the enamel. This allows restorations in A-D shades to be produced efficiently without additional characterization and staining. The resulting crowns and bridges exhibit a natural translucency and shade effect.

The discs are available in three levels of translucency (MT, LT and MO) and in a polychromatic MT Multi version. The LT materials are supplied in blocks in 7 A-D shades and a Bleach shade.

The materials are optimized for processing in the company’s PrograMill milling units.
