Align Technology recently released upgrades to its Invisalign Outcome Simulator and the iTero Element intraoral scanner.
The Invisalign Outcome Simulator is a chairside and cloud-based application for the iTero Element scanner that allows doctors to help patients visualize how their teeth may look after Invisalign treatment, according to a press release. The Invisalign Outcome Simulator 4.0 software now offers 3D Progress Tracking, making it possible for clinicians to compare a patient’s new scan with a specific stage of their ClinCheck treatment plan. Doctors can use this to assess and communicate Invisalign treatment progress with an easy-to-read, color-coded tooth movement report that shows how each tooth is tracking.
The software’s Patient Simulation Sharing feature enables doctors to share the patient’s 3D simulated Invisalign treatment outcome through a protected patient portal that can be viewed on smartphones, tablets and computers.
The iTero Element 1.4 software upgrade includes real-time color scanning in both scan and view mode, making it easier to visually distinguish between gingival and tooth structure for a more comprehensive clinical evaluation. Restorative pre-treatment scanning allows the transfer of natural dentition or temporary restoration anatomy along with the prepared tooth to the lab for exact replication, while optimized orthodontic scanning offers real-time feedback during the scan process to capture missing scan data before processing, facilitating high quality scans for fabrication of traditional orthodontic appliances.
