Henry Schein recently entered into a definitive agreement to acquire an 80 percent ownership position in Marrodent, one of Poland’s largest full-service dental distributors. The company reached about $32 million in sales in 2015.
The transaction is subject to approval by Poland’s competition authorities, according to a press release, and is expected to close in the fourth quarter. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Marrodent serves about 10,000 office-based dental practitioners across Poland, and the acquisition marks Henry Schein’s entry into Poland’s dental market. Brothers Roman and Marek Stekla founded Marrodent in 1990 and will own the remaining 20 percent of the company. They, along with CEO Artur Podolski, will join Henry Schein.
With the addition of Marrodent, Henry Schein's dental business will have operations or affiliates in 27 countries. Henry Schein reported global dental sales of $5.3 billion in 2015.
