New Dental Product: ORTHOPHOS SL 2D/3D Imaging System from Sirona

New Dental Product: ORTHOPHOS SL 2D/3D Imaging System from Sirona

Available in 2D, 3D, and with an optional cephalometric arm, the ORTHOPHOS SL digital imaging system line from Sirona is designed to make capturing sharp digital images simple for clinicians performing a range of clinical procedures.

The ORTHOPHOS platform includes the ORTHOPHOS SL 3D cone beam system as well as the ORTHOPHOS SL DCS digital panoramic system both of which feature Sharp Layer technology and a Direct Conversion Sensor. These technologies provide high levels of image definition at the lowest possible radiation doses, according to a press release.

During panoramic imaging the Sharp Layer technology automatically adapts the panorama curve to the patient’s anatomy, captures multiple image layers to construct the sharpest possible image, and allows the depth of focus to be shifted after the image is captured. The Direct Conversion Sensor converts x-rays directly into electrical signals for optimal definition with minimal signal loss.

The 3D version features three volume sizes including a small field of view ideal for endodontic imaging and a larger field of view for airway analysis. A patented AutoPositioner makes it simple to position the patient for ideal imaging, and an integrated ambient light creates a pleasant atmosphere for patients.
