Making use of a new laser ablation technology, the DWLM mill from Dental Wings uses a laser to mill dental restorations from polymer, ceramic or glass ceramic blocks.
The laser milling process is designed for both efficiency and accuracy as there is no need for tooling which can wear and break, no cutting fluids to manage, and no need for post-milling crystallization of glass ceramics, according to a press release. The DWLM is designed to work with open STL files.
The new laser milling system will be shown to the industry for the first time during the 2015 International Dental Show.
