Nobel Biocare Previews Digital Dental Innovations and Dental Implant Solutions

With more than 2,000 attendees on hand at the Nobel Biocare Global Symposium 2013 to learn about the latest in dental implant techniques and digital dental products, Nobel Biocare provided a preview of upcoming enhancements to its digital workflow along with new implant and surgical products.

The biggest news is the announcement of an enhanced digital dental workflow that links dental practices using NobelClinician implant treatment planning software with dental laboratories using the NobelProcera CAD/CAM solution via the secure online NobelConnect network. This improved workflow creates a seamless process allowing data to be added and used by the various parties at different points in the process, according to a press release.

These enhancements include the ability for dentists using NobelClinician to add highly accurate surface models created by the NobelProcera 2G lab scanner to clinical images at any time in the treatment planning process. This fully automated process integrates scan data from the lab with a CBCT scan at the practice without the need for radiographic guides or specific markers or scan protocols. With the integrated datasets, a clinician can create a surgical template with the push of a button. These NobelGuide templates can be complete surgical guides or a new option that is a guide just for the pilot hole, allowing freehand surgical techniques to finish the implant placement.

Additionally, the NobelConnect network can be linked to work with the iPad-operated OsseoCare Pro surgical drill system. The digital treatment plan can be sent to the drill software in the iPad and the drill sequence can be preprogrammed for a specific implant case. Also, the NobelClinician Communicator iPad App allows clinicians to share treatment plans with patients via an iPad for an engaging treatment presentation.

Along with this new integrated digital workflow, Nobel Biocare announced the launch of a new creos xeno.protect biodegradable collagen membrane in select European markets. A new NobelProcera Angulated Screw Channel (ASC) Abutment is also planned to launch in 2014. The ASC abutment is designed to allow optimal and esthetic screw access positions, giving clinicians greater restorative options.

Additional announcements from Nobel Biocare about the launch of the Foundation for Oral Rehabilitation and the educational programs at the global symposium can be found in the press release below.
