Align Technology Hits Milestone as New Hampshire Teen is the 2 Millionth Patient Treated with Invisalign

For any teenager, orthodontic treatment is about the end result, an improved smile. 18-year-old Tessa Dyer is certainly excited about the prospects of straightening her teeth, but she has an extra reason to be smiling upon learning she will be the 2 millionth patient worldwide to be treated with Invisalign, and manufacturer Align Technology will be completely covering the cost of her treatment.

Dyer, a patient of Drs. Rachel Polgrean and Patricia Timmeny at Apple Tree Orthodontics in Londonderry, New Hampshire, is starting treatment with Invisalign Teen. She learned her treatment was a milestone for the company at a recent appointment, according to a press release.

Invisalign was first launched by Align Technology in 1999, and it took a decade for the company to reach the first million people to be treated with the orthodontic system. However the second million Invisalign patients were treated in just the last three years. This growth was partially spurred on by the 2008 introduction of Invisalign Teen, which has been used to treat 260,000 patients thus far, according to the release.
