A Closer Look at the 2019 Cellerant Best of Class Technology Award Winners

As technology continues to evolve, so does the way you practice dentistry. New products and innovations enable clinicians to do things faster and better, while also improving patient outcomes.

Every year, Cellerant Consulting Group recognizes the technologies that make dentists better at what they do. These technologies improve efficiencies and simply make life easier. Some are brand new products you might not know about yet, while others are proven technologies that win this award year after year.

All 25 of this year’s winners, chosen by an unbiased panel of dental technology experts, will be showcased at the 2019 ADA FDI World Dental Congress, which is set for September 5 to 7 in San Francisco. Attendees will have the chance to work with the technologies first hand and hear panelists talk about the winners in the Digital Future of Dentistry Technology Expo.

In the meantime, here’s a sneak peek at the 2019 Best of Class (BOC) Technology Award Winners:

Emerging Technologies

Bausch OccluSense

OccluSense by Bausch combines traditional articulation techniques with a digital presentation, according to the company website.

The battery-powered OccluSense® handheld uses a practice’s local wireless network to transfer data recorded from the OccluSense sensors to the OccluSense®-iPad-App. The flexible, color-coded sensors record masticatory forces in 256 pressure levels.

The thin, flexible material makes it possible to record both the static and dynamic occlusion, with the red-coated sensor marking the occlusal contacts on the patient’s teeth. The handheld device records the masticatory forces captured by the sensor, and then transmits the recorded data to the app. Recordings and live mode, as well as the occlusal force distribution, can be viewed in 2D, 3D or in a combo view.

Along with the device, the system comes with an inductive charger for wireless power transfer, a test sensor and a box of 25 OccluSense sensors.
