Direct Restorative Case Study: Tetric EvoCeram

A 16-year-old boy presented with chemical erosion of the anterior incisors.

He finished orthodontic treatment 3 months earlier and wanted to enhance his appearance.

His chief complaints were the wear and the short clinical crowns of the anterior teeth. Minimal prep porcelain veneers was an option, but his age and a desire for a conservative approach meant that bonding with Tetric was a good option.

Laser gingival recontouring helped re-establish his pre-orthodontic crown length.

First, the appropriate shade was selected.


Shade selection of Tetric EvoCeram; shade A2 and Bleach Incisal.

The enamel was bevelled with a fine diamond.


An 846-016 diamond was used to bevel the enamel.

The enamel was etched for 15 seconds with Total Etch.

Excite bonding agent was then applied using the Vivapen dispensing system.

Tetric Evo Flow A3 was applied to line the preparation

Tetric EvoCeram A2 was used as enamel replacement on facial surface

Incisal anatomy was developed by shaping the A2 with a P1 carver

The Axis TDF 9 fine finishing carbide was used to recontour and develop tooth form

Medium and fine finishing disks are used to refine and polish

Final polishing is accomplished with the Astropol fine finishing point

The patient used 3% Hydrogen Peroxide to rinse and an infuser tip around the the laser tissue contoured teeth twice a day for the past week. 18. A 1:1 view of the above, focusing on the result from using 2 shades of Tetric EvoCeram. A true universal composite for the anterior and posterior regions if one had to pick 1 composite for their office.
