Our High Tech Dental Practice was started in 1941 by my uncle Wilbert Gordon, he was way ahead of his time and he used the AirDent machine (pre-cursor to air abrasion), white noise machines for
sound control and hypnosis.

This practice was improved with more technology for 50 years by my father, Theodore Gordon who wrote the definitive paper on Telescope Reconstruction in the 1960s. He was also the first Dentist to ever go ahead and obtain is Certified Dental Technologist certification (CDT) while practicing dentistry. He did early work with Midwest in the development of high speed air driven handpieces and he constructed the first 4-hand dental office west of New York City in the 1950s.

I computerized our dental office in 1980 using a single IBM PC. I was a very early adopter of the use of an Intraoral Video Camera, Digital Radiography and Computers in the Operatory (leading to a Chartless Dental Office)

I believe in Minimally Invasive Dentistry. I am one of less than a dozen dentists Certified in Dental Ozone Treatment.

I taught, as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry, at the University of Illinois, College of Dentistry. Teaching career of 19 years.

I was yearly Guest Lecturer at Northwestern University Dental School in the Integrated Concepts Course.

In 2006, I personally designed and built a brand new high-tech dental office which utilized green design features. When constructed, it was about as ecologically friendly as a dental office could be.

I have lectured nationally on a variety of topics, including Porcelain Laminate Veneer and Porcelain Inlay Onlay; Integration of Technology into the Dental Office; Design of the Paperless (Chartless) Dental Office; Digital Dental Radiography; Minimally Invasive Dentistry for the General Practitioner; Use of Ozone in Dentistry; and Use of Soft Tissue Laser in Dentistry
