Sleep Apnea Appliances

A growing area of dentistry is sleep medicine, and a growing number of dental practices are providing patients with sleep apnea appliances. These appliances are designed to help patients keep their jaws in a position that will keep their airway open during sleep. These devices are easier for patients to use than a CPAP machine which is often another alternative. These devices can be designed based on digital or physical dental impressions, and patients can be diagnosed for the devices based on sleep monitoring and sometimes cone beam imaging. Adding sleep apnea appliances to a practice can be a way to grow the business.
