Dental Air Abrasion Equipment

Dental air abrasion units are used for cavity detection and treatment. These units are often favored in pediatric dentistry, as anesthesia is not often needed and there is no noise or vibration. Intraoral abrasion systems perform a variety of functions including cutting, polishing, cleaning and drying. They can be attached to a handpiece or can be a self-contained unit. Most dental air abrasion units use aluminum oxide or glass beads for an abrasion medium with sodium bicarbonate for lighter work such as polishing. Compressed air is necessary for dental air abrasion units and average power for these systems ranges between 40-100 psi. Some vendors offer the addition of a water stream to the air abrasive flow, this can enhance patient comfort. A variety of nozzle tip sizes and angles are available for various procedures. Be sure to choose a reputable vendor who offers impeccable customer service.
