Non-Resorbable Membranes

Placed into the surgical site following oral surgical or periodontics procedures, non-resorbable membranes are designed to protect the site and prevent the growth of epithelium while promoting the growth of healthy bone. Also known as dental barriers, non-resorbable membranes are most commonly fabricated from polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). While these membranes are effective, they do not break down naturally and a second procedure must be performed to remove the non-resorbable barrier 4 to 6 weeks following the initial oral surgery.
