New Dental Product: exoplan 3.0 Galway Implant Planning Software From exocad

The FDA recently cleared exoplan 3.0 Galway Implant Planning Software from exocad for use in the U.S.

The new release supports the planning of edentulous cases, including surgical guide design, according to a press release. Through the software package designed for virtual implant planning, customized surgical designs can be created with the Guide Creator software module and then produced in a laboratory, dental practice or an external production center.

The software has 40 new features and enhancements to more than 60 existing functionalities. It also offers improved integration with DentalCAD, exocad's dental CAD software.

The software comes with a variety of tools to speed up the planning process, including dual scan protocol, anchor pin placement and fixation guide. Surgical and fixation guides can be freely designed or based on a prosthesis scan.

Other features include an improved implant selection dialog and automatic panoramic curve detection. The software also allows for virtual tooth extraction on optical scans, clearly marked sinus cavity imaging and the ability to check if implants are intruding upon the sinus cavity.

More implant libraries are also available with the update, as well as more than 378 implant systems and 6,572 implants from more than 59 manufacturers.

The company names its releases after current EU "European Capitals of Culture" and selected the Irish city of Galway for this release.
