DentalPost Job Board Now Offers SmartView Screening Feature

The DentalPost job board now offers SmartView, a feature designed to reduce unconscious bias in the initial screening and hiring process.

With SmartView on, dentists can hide candidates’ names and photos while evaluating their professional background and training, according to a press release, helping them set aside their personal preferences and unconscious biases.

This enables them to focus on skills, experience and assessment insights rather than appearance, age, ethnicity or gender—expanding the pool of candidates and helping them find better matches for open positions.

“Most people think of diversity hiring as a subtractive process where the potential candidate pool is narrowed down to focus on diverse candidates, but that’s not it at all,” DentalPost Founder and CEO Tonya Lanthier, RDH, said, according to the release. “DentalPost’s new SmartView feature is actually an additive process, where the candidate pool stays at its maximum size while all initial screening is completed based on the details that make for a great hire. Only after the reveal does a more subtractive candidate screening process begin.”

The data-driven recruitment platform regularly conducts nationwide surveys and reports on dental employment trends and issues. Industry surveys reveal a lack of diversity on dental teams including age, gender and race, and that’s only become more of an issue since the pandemic. An already tight labor pool has become even tighter, according to DentalPost’s 2020 dental salary survey report, with many opting to leave the industry or retire early.

The dental job board also offers Match by DentalPost™, which is a proprietary algorithm that matches employers and job seekers using objective evaluation insights. The combination of SmartView and Match by DentalPost creates an inclusive hiring platform for job seekers and provides employers access to more qualified candidates they might have otherwise overlooked.
