Dentsply Sirona recently introduced ProTaper Ultimate, the fourth generation of the ProTaper system.
The system combines the latest generation of ProTaper files, enhanced disinfection and dedicated obturation. It is specifically designed for clinicians who perform endodontic procedures and are ready to expand the range of anatomical treatment they provide, according to a press release. The treatment concept is based on three pillars: shaping, 3D cleaning and filling root canal systems.
The shaping pillar includes the slider, shaper and finisher endodontic file types. The feature specific files are designed to safely prepare a full range of endodontic anatomy. Novel auxiliary files are available for larger and straighter canals. All files can prepare canals mechanically and/or manually.
The cleaning pillar focuses on eliminating pulp, bacteria, debris and breaking down products, when present. To facilitate cleaning, a flexible, polymer canula with a bifid apical flow channel can safely deliver irrigant deep into the apical portion of the preparation. With a fluid-filled canal, a reagent can be exchanged into both the instrumentable and uninstrumentable portion of the root canal space with the SmartLite Pro EndoActivator, which will be launched soon. The SmartLite Pro platform offers three attachments, which include the SmartLite Pro curing light, the transilluminator and the EndoActivator.
Because of the predictable shaping and cleaning, the obturation pillar enables dentists to successfully fill and seal the root canal system. The ProTaper Ultimate Solution also includes dedicated gutta-percha master cones based on the Conform Fit concept and technology. Jointly used with a Conform Fit gutta-percha master cone, the new AH Plus Bioceramic Sealer will help ensure filling root canal systems where the sealer bonds to the cleaned dentin walls for healing.
ProTaper Ultimate, Conform Fit master cones and AH Plus Bioceramic Sealer are now available in the United States and will follow in other countries as per local registration time.
