New Dental Product: iTero Workflow 2.0 Software from Align Technology

Align Technology recently released iTero Workflow 2.0 software, which features faster scanning, improved visualization and enhanced patient communication tools to help increase efficiencies, support better clinical diagnosis, and drive patient engagement for treatment acceptance.

Among the new features, doctors can now capture, annotate and then share Invisalign simulations or restorative treatment plans digitally, according to a news release.

This allows for improved diagnosis while helping patients better understand their oral health conditions and treatment options.

The software enables a faster, smoother all-in-one scan for maximum efficiency. The software offers 20% less waiting for processing time on the iTero Element Plus Series scanners and 50% faster movement and 25% faster rotation during scanning on iTero Element scanners.

The integrated 3D intraoral scan included with the iTero Element 5D Plus imaging system, powered by AI capabilities, provides enhanced sharpness and improved image quality, delivering clearer soft and hard tissue details. Clinicians can efficiently use intraoral images in place of traditional intraoral photos as they can capture multiple intraoral images at different angles automatically with one scan.

The new Snapshot tool and iTero Scan Report gives dental professionals the ability to capture information such as Invisalign Outcome Simulator projections and share it digitally with their patients so they can make more confident decisions, and that could lead to higher treatment acceptance.

iTero Workflow 2.0 software features are being rolled out regionally and are expected to be available in all markets where the iTero Element Plus imaging systems are sold by the end of the second quarter. Software features vary by scanner.

Align Technology also announced the new auto-upload feature for the iTero Element 5D. Intraoral images are now automatically uploaded for Invisalign case submissions. This new functionality eliminates steps and streamlines the process. It will be available in the third quarter.

iTero Element 5D simultaneously records 3D, intraoral color and NIRI images, eliminating the need for multiple devices. With the auto-upload feature, intraoral color scan images can be used in place of the required intraoral photos for Invisalign case submissions, eliminating the need for cheek retractors, improving the patient experience and the workflow.
