Carestream Dental recently introduced the CS 2400P portable x-ray generator.
The handheld device features a battery-free recharging system and a powerful x-ray beam for high-quality diagnostic images, according to a press release. The battery-free design makes it possible for the x-ray generator to go from completely discharged to ready to use in less than 3 minutes. It can deliver multiple shots before needing to be recharged, a process that takes a few seconds.
The device’s exposure parameters are similar to those of a conventional generator (70 KV; 3,5 mA), meaning image quality isn’t sacrificed for the convenience of portability. The system also features a short exposure time, which reduces the risk of motion and improves sharpness.
The lightweight, handheld unit frees up wall space and gives teams the flexibility to move between operatories.
