BISCO recently introduced TheraBase, a dual-cure, calcium and fluoride-releasing self-adhesive base/liner.
TheraBase uses THERA technology to chemically bond to tooth structure, as well as release and recharge calcium and fluoride ions, according to the company’s website. The calcium release generates an alkaline PH that is said to promote pulp vitality. The dual-cured material can polymerize in deep restorations where light can’t reach.
The material is also radiopaque, allowing for easy identification on radiographs for quick, effective diagnosis. The self-adhesive material requires no bonding agents. It has high compressive strength and absorbs shock and stress from occlusal forces without fracturing.
The material also contains the adhesion promoting monomer MDP for reliable bond to dentin. The auto-mix dual syringe provides a consistent mix for immediate delivery with zero to minimal material waste.
