Carestream Dental’s new Imaging Case and Collaboration (ICC) app is designed to make it easier and more secure to share cases between colleagues and other oral health care professionals.
Users can upload all case images, including CBCT DICOM files, intraoral scan STL files and JPGS, to the cloud-based platform, according to a press release. Treatment plans and images can then easily be shared for enhanced collaboration.
The platform’s message tool enables users to highlight and comment on areas of interest on an image. When GPs are concerned about a periapical lesion on a 3D scan, for example, they can add a note on the image for the endodontist, who can then quickly respond.
Through the app, clinicians can easily grant or revoke access to cases. As offices grow and bring in new doctors or as referral relationships change, practices can maintain control over who sees which cases.
Because the platform is cloud based, clinicians don’t have to rely on server maintenance and back-up; that is all handled offsite by Carestream Dental. Data encryption and storage meets all local, regional and country policies, ensuring patient privacy compliance.
The app can be accessed from a desktop and will be available for download on iOS smartphones soon. The platform compresses any data loss at no cost before transfer and storage. This reduces file size and speeds up transfers.
