Whip Mix is now manufacturing 3D printed COVID-19 nasopharyngeal testing swabs for the state of Kentucky, where the company is based.
The company sells and uses 3D printing technologies in its own operations and approached the state of Kentucky about providing the swabs, according to a press release.
Whip Mix’s research team created a special formula for the swabs. The design, provided by the University of Louisville, was tested and validated on patients in the University of Louisville Hospital and at Norton Healthcare.
The 3D printed swabs are made of a clear, flexible lattice and were developed to balance patient comfort with reliable sample collection.

Whip Mix Manufactures 3D Printed Nasopharyngeal Swabs for Covid-19 Testing
Louisville, KY–Whip Mix, a dental product manufacturer, is proud to make and supply nasopharyngeal swabs for the state of Kentucky in response to the Covid-19 public health emergency. The company sells and uses 3D printing technology in its own operations, which enables it to help to meet the overwhelming demand for testing swabs.
