In response to COVID-19, dental software company Awrel recently released the Emergency Dental Virtual Assistant, a turnkey chatbot that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to empower remote triage and dental emergency management.

The “first-of-its-kind” solution gives patients 24/7 access to screening and question-answering tools that are designed to collect the necessary information to provide “clinically vetted recommendations for next-step actions,” whether that’s scheduling an appointment or self-care, according to a press release. The tool offers an efficient way to triage patients and answer questions, while also addressing social distancing. It also helps practices save time and money by automating manual processes for emergency access and assessment.

With this solution, dental professionals receive chatbot notifications through HIPAA-complaint text messages. Doctors can then follow up with patients via phone or the HIPAA-complaint texting application. Data exchanged on the chatbot and texting applications can be easily moved to the patient’s record.
