CDA Cancels Anaheim Convention Scheduled for May

The California Dental Association (CDA) recently canceled “CDA Presents The Art and Science of Dentistry,” which was scheduled for May 14 to 16 in Anaheim.

The cancellation comes after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommended gatherings of 50 people or more not be held in the U.S. for eight weeks to help slow the spread of COVID-19, according to a press release. California public health experts also have urged the cancellation of large gatherings and strengthened social-distancing efforts after Gov. Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency earlier this month.

Those who registered will automatically receive a refund within 60 days; there’s no need to contact the CDA. Online and audio learning options will be offered for free to help dentists and their teams participate in CE. The TDIC Risk Management seminar will also be available online for free.

The CDA will cancel hotel reservations made through the CDA room block. Those who made reservations outside the room block will need to handle their own cancellations.

The CDA will continue to prepare for its convention in San Francisco this fall and has plans to add expanded programming.
