Carestream Dental recently launched the CS 3700 intraoral scanner.
The ergonomic scanner features customer-centric workflows, smart-shade matching, highspeed scanning and processing, and touchscreen capabilities, according to a press release. It offers versatility and can address restorative, orthodontic, implant-borne prosthetic and sleep device treatments.
The scanner’s new software, CS ScanFlow, enables users to select any workflow from a single screen for enhanced convenience. The software gives users more control of the scanning workflow process and offers high-definition 3D scans.
The CS 3700 features smart-shade matching that automatically detects the scan area’s enamel color to identify the best match. The patented technology, known as bidirectional reflectance distribution function (BRDF), captures actual shade values from several views, considering all angles of the scanner. The technology automatically compiles a report with multilayer shade information for the selected area of interest. This makes it easy for users to share the outcome with their dental lab or other doctors.
The system also offers a 20 percent increase in scan speeds over the company’s other systems. It was designed in collaboration with the studio F. A. Porsche, the originator of the brand Porsche Design, and features optimized curves and a sleek style while offering ultimate comfort.
The ergonomic grip channel gives users a balanced sense of scanner control, while an optional wrist strap connects users to the scanner, preventing dropping and the damage that could result. It’s also easy to switch between upper and lower jaw modes directly from the scanner to allow for more focus on the patient.
