CS 9600 from Carestream Dental Receives Bronze Edison Award

The CS 9600 CBCT system from Carestream Dental received a bronze Edison Award in the Medical/Dental Diagnostics category.

The Edison Awards honors companies that carry on Thomas Edison’s legacy of challenging conventional thinking, according to a press release. The CS 9600 was judged by more than 3,000 senior business executives, past Edison Award winners, marketing professionals, scientists, designers, engineers and academics from across the nation.

To improve positioning accuracy and reduce the number of retakes required, the CBCT system uses video cameras instead of lasers to provide positioning feedback via its built-in SmartPad. Interactive guides are superimposed onto an image of the patient’s face so users can properly position them on the first try. Interactive positioning accessories also let users know if the wrong accessory is inserted for the type of exam indicated.

The CS 9600’s 120 kV generator can capture images at a dose equivalent to the standard 90 kV acquisition, increasing image quality while also focusing on safety. Once the scan is taken, it can be enhanced by a patented metal artifact reduction algorithm known as CS MAR. Dental professionals can compare images live with and without a filter.

The company also received a bronze Edison Award in 2018 for the CS 8100SC 3D imaging system, following the bronze they received for the CS 3500 intraoral scanner in 2015.
