New Dental Products: Planmeca Creo C5 3D Printer and Planmeca Compact I5 Dental Unit

The 2019 Chicago Dental Society Midwinter Meeting will mark the debut of a pair of new products from Planmeca, the Planmeca Creo C5 3D printer and the Planmeca Compact i5 dental unit.

The Creo C5 is a 3D printer designed for chairside applications such as surgical guide and dental model printing, according to a press release. The printer is capable of printing up to five full arch models at the same time and can create one model or surgical guide in as little as 15 minutes and 50 to 60 temporary crowns in less than 10 minutes.

The printer features LCD Photomask technology that can project a uniform light to eliminate printing imperfections. It does not require calibration and is controlled by an intuitive touch display with pre-programmed settings and works with common, open file formats. The printer uses materials that come in capsules for easy loading and less material waste.

The Planmeca Compact i5 is designed to make everyday dental work more efficient and comfortable. The floating chair and narrow backrest make it easier to access the patient, and the automatic, foldable leg rest makes it easy for patients to get in and out of the chair. The Ultra Relax upholstery is designed to update the patient's weight and body heat for enhanced comfort.

The dental unit can be customized with four different settings to match different clinician preferences and offers the Planmeca PlanID sign-in system for easier access to these settings with just the flash of a card.
