A partnership between Planmeca Oy and ORCA Dental AI will bring artificial intelligence-powered image processing to the Romexis software platform.
The initial AI offering will be an application to provide instant teeth segmentation and structure identification to 3D CBCT images, according to a press release. The software automatically segments teeth and bone to provide instant information about each tooth, root inclination, impacted tooth and supernumerary captured in a cone beam image. This can reportedly save clinicians more than an hour per case. The software also identifies structures such as the mandibular panoramic curve, the maxilla curve and nerve canal tracing.
ORCA Dental AI is currently working on a trio of dental AI engines to provide smart automation to digital orthodontics, implants, and diagnostics.
