Research Shows The Canary System Can Detect Caries Beneath Intact Restoration Margins

New research presented by Quantum Dental Technologies shows the company's The Canary System is capable of detecting caries beneath the intact margins of glass ionomer and compomer restorations.

The research which was presented ruing the recent International Association for Dental Research meeting in London showed the caries detection device was more accurate at detecting caries beneath the margn of intact restorations than other options including Spectra, DIAGNOdent and a standard visual examination, according to a press release. During the research The Canary System was able to detect 91 to 100 percent of the lesions around the radiopaque restoration margins. These results are similar to previous studies showing the system's capability of detecting carious lesions beneath other dental restorative materials as well as orthodontic brackets.
