J. MORITA USA recently released the Tri Auto ZX2, a cordless endodontic handpiece with a built-in apex locator.
The compact handpiece is designed with canal treatment technology that simplifies procedures while protecting patients with advanced safety features, according to a press release. It can be used to achieve apical patency and to create a glide path with the new Optimum Glide Path (OGP) function.
The handpiece allows subtle and delicate manipulation of the file, facilitating faster and safer treatment, even in cases that involve constricted or extremely curved canals. Rotary files as small as #10 may be used.
The unit also offers Optimum Torque Release (OTR) technology, which is also available on the company’s Root ZX II apex locator handpiece. During file rotation, torque is automatically measured. If the torque exceeds a preset value, the file reverses rotation incrementally until the torsion is released and then resumes in the cutting direction. This improves canal navigation and efficiency, while also reducing the possibility of file jamming, breakage, ledge formation in curved canals, and canal transportation.
