New Dental Products: NextDent 5100 3D Printer and NextDent Resins from 3D Systems

3D Systems introduced the NextDent 5100 3D printer, powered by Figure 4 Technology, today at LMT Lab Day Chicago 2018. The company also launched 18 new NextDent resins, bringing the company’s portfolio to 30.

The 3D printer makes it possible for dental laboratories and clinics to address more indications with one solution, according to a press release. The system produces dental devices up to four times faster than other solutions, while also reducing material waste, capital equipment expenditure and reliance on milling centers. It also helps reduce the number of times patients must visit the office.

The NextDent 5100 is powered by the company’s proprietary Figure 4 technology, which facilitates high-speed 3D printing of dental devices and fixtures. The printer is compatible with industry standard intraoral scanning and software solutions. This end-to-end digital workflow also provides higher and more predictable uptime, with a reduction in risk for the operator.

The NextDent 5100 is complemented by a portfolio of 30 NextDent resins, which are available in a variety of esthetic colors. The materials enable dental labs and clinics to provide finished products that closely match the patient’s teeth and gums. All NextDent dental 3D printing materials are biocompatible and CE-certified, and are suitable for a wide range of applications.

The materials are certified in accordance with medical device directive 93/42/EEC, listed at the FDA and also registered in various other countries.

The NextDent 5100 is in beta testing with select customers. The company plans to take pre-orders in the second quarter with general availability planned for the summer.
