New Dental Product: Velox Desktop 3D Printer from Structo

Structo will debut Velox, the first desktop 3D printer with autonomous post-processing, at this year’s Chicago Midwinter Meeting. The system is designed to streamline appliance manufacturing in dental practices.

The integrated autonomous post-processing allows dental professionals to easily go from designed appliance to printed part, according to a press release. Traditionally, 3D printing and post-processing automaton is only accessible to large dental laboratories.

The system features three stages – Print, Wash and Cure – on a rotating carousel, fitting all these functions into a single low-footprint automated system. It also comes with AutoPrint. Users upload STL files to this cloud service, and from there nesting, supporting and slicing are taken care of. The printer can start automatically without further user intervention.

The printer has a single-use cartridge-based system that allows for easy material management and storage. With a wide range of materials available, it is capable of printing everything from models and surgical guides to denture bases and temporaries, allowing it to be used for nearly all dental applications, including orthodontics, prosthetics, temporary restorations and fully guided implant cases.
