Dentistry.AI, an artificial intelligence software for detecting caries, has been approved under U.S. federal law for clinical use as an investigational device. The software was developed by ParallelDots, a company specializing in artificial intelligence.
Licensed dentists can apply to install and evaluate the cloud-based software in their office, according to a press release. The software integrates with popular x-ray sensors and imaging software.
With the software, x-rays are automatically uploaded to the cloud application for analysis. Annotations on the x-rays are sent back immediately, indicating areas with a high probability of caries. This enables dentists to examine those areas more closely.
