3Shape Introduces Indirect Bonding Solution and Announces Integration with American Orthodontics Bracket Systems

3Shape recently introduced an Indirect Bonding Solution and announced integration with American Orthodontics Bracket Systems.

The new bonding solution shortens the orthodontic workflow, according to a press release. 3Shape Bracket Placement, an add-on module to 3Shape Ortho Planner software and part of its Indirect Bonding Solution, can now automate the movement of teeth to create an optimal setup for orthodontists and lab technicians. This eliminates the need to manually adjust teeth in the digital workflow.

Professionals using the bracket placement module can choose the bracket library and wires they prefer. The software automatically adjusts the patient’s malocclusion. Users can then make small adjustments to the setup they prefer, which the software will correspondingly change in the bracket placement. The software also allows users to save preferences.

Using the 3Shape Bracket Transfer module, also a module within the 3Shape Indirect Bonding Solution, professionals can create the transfer media to bond the physical brackets in the patient as well. The entire digital workflow begins with a 3Shape TRIOS intraoral scan or by scanning a physical impression with a 3Shape lab scanner.

3Shape also recently announced exclusive integration with American Orthodontics Bracket Systems.  The integration allows orthodontists and labs using the 3Shape Indirect Bonding Solution to plan treatment with the virtual American Orthodontics Bracket System library and then bond the physical AO brackets using digitally-designed transfer trays.

Select American Orthodontics Bracket System libraries can be accessed directly in 3Shape orthodontic software. Treatment planning and bracket placement of the virtual libraries are made using a digital study model of the patient and/or with the 3Shape Indirect Bonding module. The models are created with a TRIOS intraoral scan or conventional impression scanned with a 3Shape dental lab scanner.

After treatment planning, the American Orthodontic brackets are placed on the patient using transfer trays also designed with the 3Shape indirect bonding software and printed with a 3D printer.
