Solvay recently released the Dentivera milling disc as part of its new dental care business line, “Solvay Dental 360.”
The company uses its new Ultaire AKP (aryl ketone polymer) material to make the milling disc, according to a press release. From the device, dental lab technicians use software tailored to the material to design metal-free, biocompatible, comfortable and natural-looking removable partial denture (RPD) frames. This reduces the number of manufacturing steps needed, enhancing speed and efficiency.
The new product line marks Solvay’s entrance into the medical devices market. The company’s portfolio of high-performance polymers cover more than 35 brands in more than 1,500 formulations. In healthcare, they are used in orthopedic, cardiovascular, renal and other markets.
